No pressure in the system

Hi All,

(Total newbie here)

3 days ago took my Pentair FNS Plus 60 apart, removed a ton of pine needles, sand and gunk, washed the grids, reinstalled, bleeder the air out of the filter, rotated the gauge at the top to the closed position, mixed 12 scoops of DE in a bucket and poured it into the skimmer while pump was running. A few minutes later check the gauge (15 psi) and the flow switch right after the pump (65-70 GPM at 3450 RPM). Everything has been working fine for a couple of days. Today I noticed the spillway is dry. Went to the pad. The pump is running at 3450, pressure gauge at the top of the filter is showing 0-2 psi, the flow switch is at the bottom (there’s some air so, it’s not even full).

Is something wrong with the pump?

Oh, never mind… The bleeping pump was full of pine needles… Vacuumed the bloody thing and everything is back to normal…

Is there a way to prevent pine needles from clogging the pump?

A lot of people here use skimmer socks to prevent finer debris from reaching the pump.

What kind of Skimmer Sock do you use?

Was looking on line and see a bunch of different skimmer socks out there and was wondering what other people were using and if they were happy with a certain brand/ type? I also I seem to recall some people using hair nets and was wondering about that. So, do you use a skimmer sock or hair net...
