Let's do some quick math. My pool gets about 1 ppm rise per cup of 10-12%. 16 ppm per gallon. My dinky little pool would require about 42 gallons of chlorine. I *might* have used that much this spring when I restored the pool (abandoned for years, there were frogs). And that was over the course of six weeks or so, certainly not all at once.
