Can someone give advice on our newly installed pool finish and what we can do? 20 year-old pool and no hydrostatic valve or previous ground water issues that we are aware of on our yard. I feel like our general contractor may have made errors in the process, but he says it's not his fault as it turned out to be groundwater. (and I know very little about this topic!). I've never dealt with a swimming pool issue before and not sure who to contact to get help as this was an expensive project.
Here is a brief timeline (I attached photos of the process):
Color: NPT Mini Pebble/French Gray
San Diego area
Wee of 9/13 - surface jack-hammered and soon after ground water starts coming in - General Contractor (GC) was trying to determine where it was coming from. Before the pebble installers came he said it was no longer leaking and he fixed the issue
Friday 9/22 - Pebble installers finish surface plaster and it looked perfect. About 10 minutes later it starts raining and rusty groundwater comes up through finish.
Sunday 9/24 - GC said he's never seen anything like this and that we need a Hydrostatic valve installed. After that is installed, GC starts filling pool with water. GC says stains will fade over time.
10/9 - Texted GC and asked if we should have a stain removal company come out as no fading has occurred, he said stains will take 6 months to fade and can't use acid to remove stains for 90-120 days or it will ruin finish
11/7 - noticed more stains all over bottom of pool - yellowish color (see Baja step)
