I got ambitious and replaced my seals because I was seeing a slow leak, well now the leak is much quicker!! Did I just do it wrong or is there something fundamentally wrong with the pump? It’s a sta-rite dynaglas

i am also frustrated because my filter casing has a drip leak and I replaced that seal too

Which pump do you have? Did you wear gloves or use a rag to press the seal into place? The half of the seal with the spring goes on the impeller, and the flat ceramic seal sits in the recessed area of the seal plate on the shaft. Which seal did you buy? Did you have to use force to get it in place?

I have a sta-rite dyna-glas. I ordered the go-kit47. I most definitely didn’t use a rag and used my fingers to push that seal in ?. Did I ruin it or is there a way for me to recover from it? I also put magic lube on the rubber part of the seals.

You may have ruined the seal. I don't know why but if you touch the ceramic surface of the seal it will leak. I wouldn't put any lube on it either. Also make sure you have the right seal for your pump, and be careful you don't crack the ceramic seal when you install it. Here is a video on shaft seal replacement.

Thanks for the reply. I actually took it apart to see what was going on and I found the issue. The spring seal plastic piece was cracked. Either I did that or it came that way. I had the old one and put that on. I also cleaned the ceramic with a rag and so far so good. No water

Now any idea why I am getting dripping on those clamps with the filter system? That’s a brand new seal too and I can’t tighten those bad boys anymore.
