My new SD80 Pentair arrived today but the collar area up top has some damage and also looks to be a bit deformed. I test fit the rings and valve and they all seem to function ok but I won’t know if it holds water until I install it of course. Just wondering if anyone has seen this type of damage before and could put my mind at ease. I’d really rather not re-box and return this thing if I don’t have to!

I would send those pics to Pentair and ask them if they will warrant that that seal will be airtight. I think it will be trouble but if they say, "OK" and you have it in writing, it will save you some time waiting for the replacement. If you don't mind the wait, then I think you are justified asking for a new filter body.
