Hello everyone this site came highly recommended from a good friend. I have two pool skimmers in our pool that aren't doing anything. I've looked at videos and seen the skimmer plumbing has two holes one for main drain and skimmer drain/pump. Is this true because I checked mine and I only have one open. Do I need to get a plumber wrench and remove the cap?

Buff,

Most new pools have the skimmers and the main drain lines run back to the equipment pad... If your skimmers have one plugged hole and one open hole, that usually means everything is plumbed back to the pad..

Show us some pics of the input pipes to your pool pump.

Skimmers are rarely bad for anything... Most likely something else is causing your skimmer issues.

Also show us some pic of the whole equipment pad so we can get a feel for what equipment you have.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Please see attached, I've followed pumps and know that left is in and right is output.

Did you talk with your builder most do not use that 2nd hole anymore. Also I noticed your pump has the input choked off a bit. I am referring to the valve closest to the pump inlet. That is unusual usually you never restrict the input suction side. That valve should be 100% opened and your floor drains and skimmers should be some combination of 100% opened.
