Hey everyone!! I have been stalking on these forums for a while. The information found is amazing!!! We started our pool construction the beginning of June. However, we ran into gunite delays due to the crews being down with COVID. We need some help! We hope that y’all can steer us in the right direction.

We picked a travertine in Adobe for our coping. We had originally picked a matching 3x5 travertine subway tile for the waterline. Long story short, the contractor installing all of the tile and coping around the pool accidentally installed the glass tile we had picked for the toe tile on the waterline. So it completely changed the look of the pool to a more modern look (our house is a modern farmhouse). We have been completely thrown off and do not know what color pebbletec or pebble sheen to go with since we have a translucent blue glass tile. The design ideas we had in our heads went out the window. I have attached pictures. We know we don’t want a grey or dark pool. We have numerous mosaics that are going in the pool, so we don’t want them to get lost. I have searched the forums high and low for threads on pool color with mosaics, but I have come up empty handed.

Bottom line, we need some expert help from you guys lol! Thank you!!!

I am by far no expert but I will give you my 2c. I think the tile looks great. A lot of people decide to do something different and fun for the pool in their very classic homes so I dont think it is out of place whatsoever. To me its a happy mistake but that tile was probably a ton more expensive than what you chose so I would definitely go to the PB and see what he can do for you on some cost differences if you decide to keep it. As far as the pebble I would think based on your mosaics that a lighter finish would make them pop more...maybe a lighter grey or whitish pebble finish would be a good choice. Let some of those with mosaics in their plaster steer you right on here. I personally love the tile and would keep it for sure. Great looking build so far!

Hi there :) To be honest I think this was a serendipitous error. With all those mosaics you've got you could use some of them for the steps. I'd take some out of the spa and use a couple (2,3) on the steps.

I would caution you on over doing the mosaics as they may look outdated down the road.

The blue tile looks fabulous!

Thank you! We got really lucky with the pool builder. He was very understanding about the blue tile. Between the builder, the supplier, and the contractor they all covered the cost of the glass tile. It was a cascade of mistakes between all of them. We felt bad that we were getting such a windfall so we paid for the specialized epoxy grout for the tile.

This is our forever house so we don’t have to worry about a potential buyer, which is a relief. Our kids are 3 and 5. We wanted the pool to feel special to our kids so they each picked out a mosaic for the pool. It’s more memories than anything 😍 I think mosaics are more of a Florida/California thing, but I love them!

Now if we could get a color nailed down, my stress level would be more manageable haha!

Builder started doing a preliminary grade around the pool. Thank goodness Mount Everest is gone from our backyard! We decided to go with original pebble tec in tropical breeze with extra shimmering sea that is going to be hand tossed around the pool. We are supposed to get forms for the 1400 sq ft of decking tomorrow! Unfortunately, we have had a ton of rain. I am hoping the rain doesn’t delay the forms.

The coping looks great. Mine is being installed this week. What edge do you have on your coping? From the pictures it doesn’t look like bullnose. Is it an eased edge?

Our 3 year old was all over it! They are loving watching everything! We video when the diggers are out so they can watch it over and over again.

SWEET!!!! Now make sure they put "chairs" under that rebar..............they might try to say "we will pick it up as we go"........NOPE as you and I both know it will settle down to the bottom..................They may use broken bricks or such. It does not matter so long as it is off the ground!

SO cute about the video watching! Memories!

Howdy Katy Neighbor! Looks like an awesome build and I love the space in your backyard! Our kids (13, 11, & 3) are counting down for the start of our pool too. I put up a camera so I can record round the clock since the little guy is obsessed with diggers and anything construction related too!

Plaster day!! We got the pebbletec tropical breeze finish. We added extra abalone shell in the spa, sun deck, steps, and seats. Right now everything is very dull and ashed over. Tomorrow is acid wash and we get to start filling! We can’t wait to see the color!

Installation crew got here at 630 am and immediately got stuck. They ended up snapping the major bolts on the driveshaft and having to get towed. Not a good way to start the day.

SWEET!!! SO close!!!

Now go out and put some socks or such on the ends of your hose. This will help filter the water some and keep the metal part off your pretty plaster!

Once the water starts flowing do NOT turn it off! Doing so could cause a ring around the plaster.

Thank you! We zip-tied socks to the ends of the hoses!
