Uploading pictures and build progress of an owner build project in Northern California. Pool basics: 14x36 with an additional cabo shelf. Exposed downslope wall with a faux negative edge detail. I did the excavation but subbing out the rest of the work. Welcome any input and happy to share information.

I will definitely be following along. We are looking at doing an OB a little south of you in the Valley. Do you mind me asking what your budget is for this project? Our pool will be a little bigger (38x20) but we’re in the very beginning stages and I’m trying to figure out if a budget of $40k is reasonable or crazy. My husband can do the excavation and concrete at cost but we’d be subbing everything else out.

Good evening,
It is still a little too early to tell where we will be at with cost on completion.
I did the excavation and some electrical so no cost there.

costs so far:
Plans $800
Engineering $1100 (additional details and site visit due to elevated exposed wall)
Permits $1500
Rebar $4500.
Rough plumbing $2800

Costs TBD;
Gunite estimate $12000 to $15000
Pebble finish and tile estimate $12000
Equipment and setting $6000
concrete and coping estimate tbd

Hope this helps. I’ll keep you posted

I’m planning on 4 microbrites. Anybody able to share pictures of their microbrites in action?
I just added some nighttime pictures with our Microbrites to my build thread. We went a little overboard but wanted the ability to have miltile
Lighting options. Let me know if you want to try to get some pictures with fewer lights on as we have quite a few. Although pictures are tough to get the real world experience given different lighting/exposure conditions on photos.

@Robtown Thank you. I found your pool thread, your pool looks magnificent. I ended up furnishing the pool with 4 slots for microbrites, maybe I should have gone with 5, but at this point a little late to change. The pool is approx 500 sqft so technically the white lights should put out enough lumens to illuminate it. Fingers crossed. The fury helper is my project manager.
