I just installed a new pool pump for my inground pool and it tripping my breakers at the same time I am getting a blue flash inside the new pump. It trips and I reset it over and over.
It makes a loud hum and vibrates/rumbles, starts to pull water from the basket then it just trips the breaker. All this takes 5 seconds.
The new pump is a 2hp my old pump is a 1.10hp..the new pump has a toggle switch for use of either 120 or 240volts.
I replaced the breakers with new ones ,identical. Still no luck. I have it wired and grounded corectly.
Should I return the pump or am I doing something wrong?
This is all new to me. My first pool ever.

I have never seen a motor with a toggle switch for the input voltage.. The switches I have ever seen are for changing speeds on a two speed pump.

Why did you replace a 1 HP motor with a 2 HP motor? It will just cost more to run...

You need to tell us exactly what kind of pump it is and show us pics of the diagrams on the side of the motor ... While the pump could have been bad, or maybe is bad now, it is most likely an installation issue..

Post some pics and we will be able to provide you with some better answers..
