Hello everyone!! Nice to be here!! We bought a house and it came with an above ground pool, pool guys said 18×33 I do believe!! We know NOTHING about pools! We bought test strips at our local Walmart, that you test and send in a picture, and they reply with what you need. I feel like these are inaccurate. I tried to vacuum the pool today, and that didn't work. I'm getting frustrated, like I bit off more than I can chew with this purchase. Beautiful pool, but lack of knowledge is making me think it may be coming down!! ANY helpful info is appreciated!! Thanks for reading!!!

You need a proper test kit, see Test Kits Compared. I suggest the TF-100 A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.
Take some pictures of your equipment and what issues you are having with the vacuum. Members will help you out.

Your vac hose plugs into your skimmer I imagine. That is how it works on most above ground pools. Put the hose in the water and be sure all the air is out of it. Then plug it into the skimmer hole.
Get a proper test kit. We will not provide guidance based on test strips or pool store test results.
Add 3 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / bleach each day to the pool with the pump running until your test kit arrives. Run a full set of tests and post them up when you can.

You should add 1/2 gallon of that liquid chlorine every day until you get your test kit and can post up some results.

It may. Or it may just keep it from getting worse until you have a test kit and can deal with it scientifically. It won't be instant no matter what.

Good job. CH is quite high? Is your tap water high in calcium? Do you have a water softener?
You did not do CYA. May have to wait until tomorrow. Is this a fresh fill of water this year? Have you added any CYA or products containing CYA?

We do not have a water softener, we live in the city, im not sure if its high in calcium.
I did do a change, however, I put the whole mixed bottle in and could still see the black dot on the bottom, im mot sure thats accurate lol.
No this is not all fresh water, just from the filter up. No we've not added anything as we wanted to get the good test kit and see where to go from here!

OK -- you should start dissolving 30 ppm of CYA granules using the sock method.
What is the condition of the water? Cloudy, algae, slimy walls, etc?
You need chlorine too. Once we know condition of water we can advise.

There are a couple of slimy spots on the bottom here and there, cloudy, there is also white chunks that start floating around after getting in and swimming in it!!

OK -- so a SLAM Process is in order.
Add acid to lower your pH to 7.2. The TA seems high, did you follow the process to wipe the tip of the R0009 reagent between each drop?
Raise your FC to 12 ppm. Keep testing and adding chlorine several times per day. Be sure the CYA is dissolving.
