New build - spa walls shot too thick

I'm in the middle of a new pool build. We removed our old free-form pool for a new 14' x 30' rectangular pool with an attached 6' x 7' raised spa.

Do to delays (weather and subcontractors) our pool was shotcreted Dec 22 while we were out of town. We just returned to discover that the spa walls were shot for 14" walls, but the spa was framed for 12" walls. So, our 6' x 7' spa is now roughly 5'8" x 6'8". Unfortunately, the plans call for 14" walls yet during excavation and framing it was decided to go with 12" walls to match the pool, and this change never made it to the plans. Due to the wrong wall thickness, the jets are not in a good location.

We have a meeting with the PB tomorrow afternoon. Is it possible to cut the walls back 2"? Anyone have a rough guess on cost? There's 7 jets plus two 2" returns on the walls that could complicate cutting back the walls.

I would accept the 4” smaller spa and have the jet locations adjusted.

Seems like they would have to completely tear out and replace the walls to do it right. Sadly I've learned from my build that literally not a single change we made across several trades actually made it to anyone's hands.

I'm always concerned with changes to structures in just about anything. The integrity of the gunite walls is the strongest when it's all one piece and cured as a single piece. Once you start tearing and rebuilding it will lose some of it's integrity/strength. Although shaving off 2 inches of gunite without causing damages wouldn't be much of a concern, if they can do it right.

I'd keep it as is and ask for some compensation to make "upgrades" to the pool elsewhere. That's what I did with our PB whenever some stuff was slightly off the plans.

So, we met with our PB. After much discussion they agreed to shave off 2" from the interior. The PB was concerned that they could not guarantee 3" of concrete between the shaved interior and the rebar. The risk is that sometime in the future the rebar could rust through the cement and discolor the pebble sheen interior. They will honor their standard warranty. We'd assume the risk afterwards.
