How much you want to bet he was making his Christmas gift list and saw he was going to be short so thought of the money outstanding from you and your pool so decided he wanted to play ball
Haha!! You're probably right Kim!

So how much do they need to rip up cause of bonding inspection? U have a back side that can be accessed right but what about the other spots off the rebar shell under pavers? I hope it all works out. And I’m sure it will. Man don’t give up anymore money. Instead of ripping up anything forcthe bonding can an engineer just verify the bonding with a continuality or electrical bonding test?
They don't really have to rip up too much...a few pavers in 2 areas. The main bonding (copper wire around the pool tied to the rebar) was already done. This inspection is just because they added the basketball hoop and hand rail and those need to have the copper bonding wire tied into them. Which they do, but the inspector needs to see it. Yes, the inspector said that he could test it with a multimeter to pass it but the PB never mentioned it. I can't believe the PB DOESN'T KNOW THIS!!! My thought is, why make it easier on him? If I called the inspector back about going the meter route, then I would have to do all the work (schedule it, get the meter, take off work). This way, I can just let the burden be on the PB to get it done and do it to my satisfaction (and the inspector's). I'm kind of tired of doing their job for them.

As of Dec 17th I have a 'Passed' final electrical inspection and as of today I have a 'passed' final building inspection. Miracles!

Then I had to deal with the hard part...the final invoice.

They emailed me a final invoice on December 26th that included the last payment, charge for water (which I really don't think I should have to pay) and the handrail. I'm sure he was hoping that I would just pay it by the end of the year. But I wasn't going to do anything without the final inspection cleared away first.

Anyway, as soon as I had a completed inspection today I texted the PB and said that we need to have a discussion re: the final invoice.

To my surprise, he texted back "No problem. Let me know what is convenient for you to meet or talk about the invoice."

I said that I would prefer to meet in person. He then called me and we are set up for Thursday morning. I don't know how reasonable he will be with regards to his bottom line, but I think I have all my ducks in a row to make a pretty compelling argument to him that he doesn't deserve most of the final 9% of his money. I cannot wait for this to be over...maybe I'll finally be able to sleep at night once it is.

Well things didn't go quite as I'd hoped. He was pretty adamant about his bottom line and kept insisting that the only thing that matters is that they got everything done. It didn't matter what I said to him...I felt like I was banging my head against the wall. I probably should have just called his bluff and said 'see you in court' but I really just want him out of my life. My goal was to get him to take $3,500 off the final invoice. I didn't get that but I was able to get him to take $2,000 off!!! Now I have a little extra money to put toward the landscaping in the spring and he's on his way to being a bad memory!

He actually told me he was going to call me after we open our pool in the spring to check that everything is working as it should and that nothing happened over the winter. Yeah, right. I should have bet him on that.

Yes facing him was hard! I was nervous and really I don't think I'm any good at negotiations but I'm happy!

Pool is under cover but when I peep in where it meets the waterfall and jump rocks it looks crystal clear!

I'm sure I will need advice on opening in the spring so THANK YOU!

So it is possible that nobody is following this thread anymore but if anyone is out there, please help me if you can! I opened our pool the weekend before last...surprisingly it went OKay! I was a little nervous and so I think it took me longer than it should have, but I got everything running. Discalaimer: My pool needs salt. I put in one bag and then tested with my new test strips; I'm a bunch of bags low. I had forgotten about the 1/3 drain the PB did in order to finally fix my light last October.

Anyway, when I got my equipment restarted I had a system alert from screenlogic that said 'Chlorinator: Cold Water Cutoff'. When I first got this message after I opened, I looked it up and found that that will happen when the water is below 60 degrees. The water was around 58 degrees so I wasn't really worried. Now here we are ten days later and screenlogic is telling me that my water is 70 degrees but I still have the same message about the chlorinator.

I have no idea why this is nor how to fix it. Should I just try resetting everything? I know it needs more salt, but I'd think I would get a different message than what I'm getting. If I have to reset/turn off the SWG can someone advise how I do that? Thank you if you can help!!!
