Needing to add a lot of Acid

I seem to need to add acid to my SWG pool every few days, as the test shows it needs it. Is that normal?

It is normal for the TA you have. Lower your TA towards 60.

Thank you. I will lower my TA. pH is usually 7.8 and I add acid as suggested by Pool Tools app. My goal is to lower it to 7.4 or 7.6. Also, I created a signature - thanks for that tip. Pool has been filled from well, but if that's the issue, I can use city water to fill.

I too have high TA fill water but now only add acid when I add water because of evaporation. My pool is stable at a pH of 7.8.
I would suggest keeping a close eye on your CSI (calcium saturation index) and not driving your pH down to 7.4 with the goal of keeping it there.

My gut feeling is that you are trying to force your pool to a "low" pH when it would be happier at 7.6-7.8

Well, that kills my thought that you had a new pool with plaster still curing.

As Allen said, your pool will probably be happier with the TA much loser. My pool was very happy at 50-60....
