Brief history: was using pristine blue and liquid chlorine. After a big storm I found my pool looking like a container of Coca Cola. Freaked out, asked a friend and added Metal Out along with a Leslie clarifier and bleach. 2 days later it was clear. Found TFP and have been living the TFP way ever since. BTW I'm still using CuLator metal sequesterant in a plastic holder to try and continue to get rid of copper.

I started the SLAM 2 weeks ago and thought that it was making the stains lighter but today they are the same and even with brushing and 15-20ppm chlorine levels, they are not disappearing.

Today I filled a sock with granulated chlorine as I couldn’t find pucks (end of season) and used brush the rub stains but no change. I then used the only. Vitamin c I had (Orange chewable crushed) in a sock and it did nothing to the stain. I’m trying to get rid of the stains before I close the pool for the winter. I need your suggestions. What do I do now?

Copper can be very, very tough or even impossible to remove once deposited on a surface. That’s why we don’t recommend it.

And John, if I found TFP (before) I listened to Namco who recommended the Pristine Blue. I never would have used it after learning the TFP way. So you are saying what?
1. You definitely think it’s a copper stain?
2. You think I’ll never get rid of the stains because I used Pristine blue before I knew about TFP and I will just have to replace the liner?

Just looking for a recommendation. I already feel bad for doing the wrong thing. But I’m looking forward vs. kicking myself for something I didn’t know and can’t change.

So maybe I got worried too soon, still in slam and it does appear that the stains are getting lighter. Cleaned filter today and it was really dirty in just 1 week during slam. I have never seen it that black or dirty. But then I’m doing my first real slam since I bought the kit from tftestkit so I know my true chrlorine around 17ppm
