Need a 3 day temporary fix please

I just found my suction side leak (see video) it’s 9:15pm here so I won’t be able to call to find a plumber till tomorrow and I’m not sure how long it’s going to be to get someone here. While I have done some above ground plumbing replacements repairs I am not comfortable at this point doing an underground like this. I need some advice for a temporary fix until the plumber gets here and does it properly.
I have JB Water weld I can set around it right now. Or is there something else you can recommend that I would be able to get tomorrow and do myself tomorrow?
Just realized video clips cannot be uploaded so here is a link to where it is uploaded I did attach a screenshot of the piece. Where the pipe goes into the elbow is loose

My sob story for those who are interested 🤦🏼‍♀️

I had a plumber come in on 7/30 and replumb pipes from my pool to my pump to my filter. they left knowing that there was now a suction side leak coming from my skimmers (pump strainer basket filled with bubbles huge amount of bubbles coming through the return jets) they kept insisting it was normal. I knew it was not. I had a few issues with my pump and it was time for a new one so in order to rule out any thing wrong on my end I went ahead and purchased new pump. Call them said he would come out didn’t show didn’t show called him again he hung up on me finally sent out one of his sons this past Saturday who told me once again it was normal.
I went through gaskets, lubes, unions fittings, valves etc and came up with nothing and then today I finally decided to dig and found the loose elbow. I have not had the pump running consistently for the past week and now the next three days are going to be approaching 90° so that’s why I’m looking for a temporary fix.

That really is an easy fix but what is this pipe right before the 90 degree loose fitting??

It sure looks like that fitting was not glued.. Is it just friction fitted in there? If so you can pull it apart and glue it with this stuff from lowes..

See how there is no purple primer on the 90, seems like no glue :)

Did this plumber assemble the pipe that wasn’t glued? If so, you obviously don’t want to do business with them again. Home Depot sells a silicone tape you can wrap around pipes temporarily to seal them. Would maybe work better on a suction side leak than a pressure side in this case.

that pipe is leading up to the pump after combining both skimmer lines. He apparently used some kind of clear glue as there are no colors on any of the pipes he installed purple blue gray etc. The elbow will not slide off of the pipe the most it will do is wiggle like a loose tooth 🙂

Thanks I’ll look it up. Only thing I’ve ever seen is flex seal tape in I know that stuff is no good. And no I will not be dealing with him again. I purchased my home in 2006 and hired someone to do my weekly maintenance for the pool however when I started getting DE returning back into my pole they told me that I needed to purchase an entire new filter housing to fix it. Fortunately growing up we had an inground pool so my dad came up helped me and we determined that I only need a filter grids. Since then I have been taking care of the pool myself opening closing and everything in between in between the site and my father I would never have had the confidence to do what I have been doing and have done with this pool.

and at the beginning of the summer I ordered for the first time TF 100 pool testing kit. Reading about free chlorine total chlorine and CYA is one thing but when I got the kit and actually saw it in action so to speak has been a true game changer 😊

What did you do? Cutting and gluing pvc is really easy and I'd suggest adding it to your DIY toolkit.

Just fix it yourself!

To work on pvc, you don't need many tools:
- two part pvc glue (purple primer and clear glue)
- a cutting tool for 2" pipe (note: the tools needs to cut to 2-5/8" or so) which can be a battery mini sawzall, a hand saw, a pvc pipe cutter, etc
- maybe a cable saw (a small wire that cuts pvc) for close quarters cuts
- a file and/or reamer for any burrs on your cuts
- tape measure
- nitrile or latex gloves so you don't make your fingers purple (also kind of toxic)

The hardest part is cutting straight and not getting purple primer on your hands..

The best tip I can provide is you almost always have to replace more pieces than you think so have some extra elbows and couplers around.
Also, use long sweep elbows and 2" pipe whenever possible.

Note: the fumes from the glues are kind of long-term toxic and you probably don't want to inhale excessive pvc dust so **don't** cut and assemble in your house or anything.

That's about it!

Given your plumber didn't glue all his fittings or test them, the hurdle for you to clear is low to the ground.

@Atsirk please YouTube a pvc pipe repair. With easy access it is stupid easy and you'll save paying $250 for something you can do in 10 mins with basic stuff from home depot..
Yep. If you do any kind of woodwork, I use a miter saw to cut my PCV. Makes perfectly square cuts.

The gorilla brand all-in-one primer and glue is clear and works really well. If that’s not glued, it’d take you about 30 seconds to wipe dry, apply glue and press together. It’s very easy.

If it is glued, you can 100% fix this yourself if you want to. Two couplers, a few inches of straight PVC and a new 90 and you’d be in business in 30 minutes or so.
