My AG pool collapsed

My 27-year old AG pool collapsed during the night Saturday night. I’m disappointed, but there was some major rust at the point where It buckled. The pool was full. Can it be repaired? Or should I plan on getting a new pool? Would my homeowners policy cover it?

Shoot, so sorry that happened. @kimkats should weigh in, as I know nothing about AG pools. Just wanted to say "Hey" and welcome you to TFP. Glad you found us.

But, OK, if you twist my arm... I can't imagine that trying to fix a 27-year-old pool, that has just demonstrated it's at end-of-life, would be money/effort well spent. Wouldn't you just be setting yourself up for it to fail again, soon? Kim?

Regarding the policy, only a call to your insurance company can answer that. Don't hold your breath, but I suppose it's possible. If denied, be sure you have them reference the specific wording in your policy papers that justifies the denial. Some insurance companies train there first tier call handlers to encourage you to go away, hoping you won't be savvy enough to challenge their initial response. Ka-ching, payout avoided! Make them prove there is no coverage before you take no for an answer.

Hello and Welcome to TFP!!
we wish your first visit here was under better circumstances. Sorry to hear of the pools collapse. Your pool has lived a good life, but you should grieve and then move on. Getting 27 years from an AGP is above the average and I don’t see any point in trying to salvage it.
If the equipment is still in good shape, you could reuse the pump and filter.

Hi and welcome! Sorry to hear about it giving way but am glad no one got hurt when it did so!

Yeah it is gone and should stay gone. When you pull the liner you will find there is a LOT more rust inside that you do not see now. Time to move on and get a new one.

Those stock tanks are neat! I am not sure how long they last but are cool!

Thank you for the nice welcome! Yes, I have resigned myself to getting another pool. We sure had a blast through the years in this one!

Thanks for the reply! The stock tanks are only 2' deep. I don't know if that is gonna satisfy us!

Oh, man, my brain. At first I didn't know what you meant by "cowgirl stock tank." The pic you sent was too small, so it just looked like a really nice hot tub set up to me, which led me to the tasteless thought "Is 'cowgirl stock tank' some sort of nickname for a hot tub?" Now I see it might actually be a big galvanized tub used to water cows?? I'm so confused... 🤪

Dirk.............you are correct.........that is all it really is! They cut holes for the return and such. Like they said they are very shallow though so do end up being more of a big hot tub due to water heating up so fast!

Love it! How many cowgirls could I fit in one?
