Well, this supply chain crisis has hit a new low...is anyone else seeing this: for the first time in my over 50 years of pool ownership...I went to buy a gallon of Muriatic Acid and there is none to be found... My local pool store is out of stock, made a few calls, but none. Just happy to note that last winter I bought about five 4-pound bags of Chlorox pH Decreaser...I think it's sodium bisulfate (have not yet used any of it for pH adjustment, not sure how long a 4-pound bag will last during pool season, but I think I am good for the rest of the season anyway).

Thanks for the tip...I'll keep it in mind. Much appreciated.
But local??? LOL..... I'm out in the country, middle of nowhere, and HD is a 1-hour ride. LOL. Thank God for Amazon. My usual "local" pool store is 10 minutes away. With gas prices what they are, I'll only venture over to HD when I am headed somewhere else and combining errands.

Hmmm, I did not think they would actually ship MA...seems like a risky proposition. I never checked Amazon. If that's TWO gallons for $16.48...That's close to today's going rate at the "local pool store". Ah, gone are the days in FL around 1995 when I paid $2 a gallon for BOTh Liq CL2 and MA....Those were the days.

OK, thanks.....Boy, you learn somethin new everyday here.....

What I found was this:

Never use dry acid to adjust pH in arid geographic areas with excessive
evaporation and minimal dilution of pool water with fresh water. A buildup

of byproducts can damage the IntelliChlor SCG.

Since I live in Southern MD, where the humidity is always high, oppressively sometimes like now...I wonder then if this is a factor that negates the Warning. I don't understand the statement: "minimal dilution of fresh water with pool water".....and also what constitutes "excessive evaporation"?

In any case I have still 3 gallons of MA "in stock" and only planned to use the dry acid as a second source (given anticipated supply chain problems that seem to have come true)...

Also, I see that HD and Lowes do not / will not ship the MA (sure makes sense to me) ....and it seems Amazon will ship it....but cost is on the order of $25-30 per gallon. Nuts.

Dry acid is a no-no with SWG's.
I have had issues finding MA in the DFW area. Some places have it, some don't. It's the most depleted stock I've ever seen for it.

Same here, at least at Leslie’s. My local Lowes has it, but their brand always seems weaker, as it doesn’t have the same effect when adding. Both state 31.45%.

I haven't been able to locate, locally, the higher % muriactic acid I used to use and even finding the regular pool level stuff has been harder. Not to mention its price increase...

Not sure what side of Las Vegas you live on, but HD and Lowes has 14.5% MA available. It isn’t as cost effective as 31.45% MA because you have to use more of the lesser strength to get the same results but it is available.
