Quick question. Can a bad spider gasket cause sand in the pool?
In theory - no. Perhaps you might see sand if the filter was overfilled with sand or the pump was too strong for the filter, but generally speaking - no, not from the spider gasket. Sand getting into the pool would usually fall into the area of a bad lateral.

Ugh, thats what I thought. The only other variable is Ive added quite a bit of DE to the filter as well while running it overnight to try and get ahead of the warmer weather this coming season.
