Keeping pool sanitized with no working pump

Why does equipment fail the day before leaving town!?! :( My Hayward Ecostar pump is not working (Drive Error) and I do not have time to deal with that issue until I return on Monday. I have a SWG. If the pool pump is not moving any water through the cell can I pour bleach in the pool to keep it sanitized until the pump is repaired?

It would be ideal to have a friend come over, add bleach and brush the entire pool at least every other day. If that isn't an option, you could bring up the FC to SLAM levels using the brush to mix and then putting some pucks in a floater.

Yes, you can add bleach to elevate your FC. You need a way to mix the water, either with a sub-pump or mix with brush or something similar. Take FC to SLAM level and would probably be OK until you get back on Monday. If you have a solar cover, put that on also so that the sun won't drop FC as much. What's your water temp?

Thank for the info! Water temp is about 68-70 degrees. I don't have a solar cover. I can have someone brush the pool for me and I do have a floater I can put pucks in. I need to test the PH before I leave b/c we had rain recently. Will I get a false reading? It tends to stay high b/c of the salt which is at 3100 (when cell runs).

if you feel the need to test pH, then do it before you elevate the chlorine above 10ppm. pH won't be too much of a concern for a few days.

(fyi, salt won't change your pH. High TA will let it vary wildly though)

Edit: apparently I'm slow to Mr. B today :D
