Hey y’all!!!!
Hope everyone is having an amazing weekend.
So.
Our new spa and pool has been completed for about 4 months.
So far the pool company CAN NOT get the spa to have less back pressure.
We have had them out 9 times to fix it.
The have tried every Jet that they have and still shuts down.
They put a smaller blower in and still shuts down.
They have drilled holes in the pipe to reduce pressure and then the next guy comes and says that is the issue and cuts the holes out.
So. I asked for a 3 way valve and they are so not wanting to do that.
They are telling me that when you have the valve that will cause issues and cause the blower to overheat. I’m thinking that BS.
Im no expert here. But when you relieve pressure it will help the system. So. If I have to I will add the 3 way valve and the only thing is that the air is loud. How can I silence the air from that valve??
The valve is a 2” Pentair valve. Do they make a silencer for this?
Thank you.

Welcome to TFP.

You are correct and your builder is full of it.

The blower is shutting down because it is overheating so what do they mean when you have the valve that will cause issues and cause the blower to overheat???

Here is someone who did a ball valve and muffler...

Welcome to the forum!
Do you have a VS pump? Does this occur even at low rpm on the pump? Can you run the pump at high rpm in Spa mode, without the blower, and get air bubbles out of the returns? If you set the valves to spa mode, and turn off the pump, and turn on the blower, does air get to the returns?
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

No. Just a one speed pump.

So.
we got the builder to send a service person.
they swapped jets again and said “That’s all I can do for you”
So now we have jest that have so much pressure it is not comfortable in the Spa.
but the pump is not shutting down. This did not “Fix” our issue. Just put jets in that are way too harsh to enjoy.
sure less back pressure but my lord it is loud and crazy powerful.

You need a vs pump.

Try removing the blower all together and see if the jets work better.

The jets work great with no blower on. When you activate the blower it is extremely harsh with the jets they replaced the massage jets with. Then that is the ONLY way it will stay running. With the single hole extremely harsh jets. We emailed the builder and then the construction supervisor pretty much told us to pound sand and said “this issue is closed and we are not coming back out to waste more of our time and company money for an issue that is common. Call us again only if the blower is blowing off the pipe or it shuts off after 5 minutes of use”
Yeah. Well that did not set well with me and my customer service ideas.
I wrote them back and pretty much told them if they don’t fix this I will will blast them on every single social media I can find and some I’ll make up. That I paid them $70k for a spa and pool that we can only use for 5 min??? Yeah NO. So after they read the email that was to the owner of the company and the warranty manager they changed their tune.
So, not they tell me that they will send a service person out next week to replace the pump with a VS pump. Why did they not do this when they designed the pool and spa?? He asked me “Why did you not order a VS pump?” Well I replied. I’m not a pool designer or a hydraulic specialist and that’s what I paid you for!
So now we wait and see if they show up.
has to be the worst construction experience ever. They have too many pools sold and pretty much don’t give a Crud if your happy after you pay them that final payment.

Then the spa does not need a blower. If they won't take it back, sell it on ebay.

BTW, most PBs are not hydraulic experts which is why this forum has many such failure stories.

We were having the same issues with a spa/blower on a previous pool, but luckily we had a VS pump. Our builder and his electrician came out a couple of times and couldn’t fix the issue.
I slowed the speed on the pump and never had an issue again.
