Is there a way to remove rust spots?

A few months ago our yard guy decided to sprinkle a "special powder" to fertilize the grass, it was a windy day and needless to say some of said powder ended up in our pool. The next day we were shocked to realize there were round rust spots everywhere. We have Pebblefina bella blue and our pool is only a year old. We have tried brushing the spots and nothing happens. It looks terrible! Are we just going to have to live with it? are there any solutions?

Vitamin C. Take a sock and put a handful of Vitamin C tablets in it. Crush them a bit and then hold the sock on each spot.

If there are too many to do that, you can use an Ascorbic Acid treatment of the entire pool.
