Is hayward 2" socket connector special?

I have a leak so need to replace the connector on my hayward cartridge filter output. I found the reference to part cx900k which are all $20 and up (leslies is nearer $40!). Same thing at lowes is much cheaper, but is it the same?

Also, how does it seal? liquid thread sealer, plumbers PTFE tape, nothing?

There is a chance that the filter is a proprietary thread so the local hardware store may not work. You could get a cheap one and check before ordering.

I would use the Teflon paste to seal the threads.

Hayward is noted for their proprietary threading as jblizzle mentioned. The one on my pump sure didn't interface with existing standard PVC threads on a half union.

2" pvc sch80 mip - Google Search, looks like a 2" schedule 80 male adapter, use teflon tape or Plasto joint stick

It's standard thread. Get schedule 40, 2" N.P.T
