Has anyone used Styrofoam sheets to lay on top of the water to insulate?
My pool get very little sun so I heat from a heat pump, so I was thinking if these foam sheets would float and im thinking it would be easier to put on than the solar cover.
Any thoughts?

Funny, I was thinking about this a couple of weeks ago. I saw those sheets of sytrofoam with the blue backing that are used as moisture barriers around foundations and wondering if they would work. Then we had two weeks of 97+ degree weather and I forgot all about it...... :)

The type im looking at is the blue one, not the small bead type I too was thinking about the beads coming loose.
I was thinking of 1/2 thick sheets and cutting them into "pie wedges"

Whatever works for you. I'm thinking at some point these are a hassle to store, damaged easily if banged, bumped, etc. or if a big wind comes, they lift and get airborn. But it may work out just fine. I'll stick with the cover - it's amazing the amount of heat the blanket/covers keep in.
