Hurricane Flo - How to Prep Pool

So I'm in Virginia Beach and looks like we're going to get a lot of wind and rain over the next couple of days. Right now I'm thinking I should prep for it by dropping the water level significantly and adding a heavy dose of chlorine to the pool. There is a high probability we lose power so I may be without my pool pump for some time. What would your recommendations be?

I have a safety cover and temporary fence (the net and pole type). I'm toying with taking down the fence and putting the cover on but it's a pain to remove the fence and I'm a little worried about something ripping my cover. Anybody got any recommendations for prepping for a major storm?

I do have a generator and a small pump so I can slowly pump out once the storm has died down a bit. I can't wire the generator to the pool pump because that's beyond my electrical capabilities.
