How to shock an above ground pool

Shocking your pool is not a product within a bag, but instead a process. Read pool school and with enough time and persistence you will get it done no problem. I just had to undergo this recently when I had to fight off some algae. Listen to these guys they are very helpful and good luck!

How does your water look? Why are you do you want to shock?

Well my numbers straight from the hose with no chemicals added are all 0, but PH which is 6.5. So that is what is in the pool right now.
That is very unlikely unless you tested for very little else. We need to know FC, ph, TA, CH, and CYA levels. See: http://www.troublefreepool.com/what-we-need-to-know-to-answer-your-questions-t10341.html

Is your water from the city or from a well?
How are you testing?

Take a look at the link in my sig on test kits. Your pool experience will go much better with the appropriate test kit.
