How to keep the pool vacuum hose on skimmer port

Dear all,

We bought a new Hayward pool vacuum XL pool cleaner ( Vacuum type ) in 4/2013. It is supposed to keep the pool vacuum hose on skimmer port, in order to do the cleaning. The problem is that the pool vacuum hose keeps falling off from the skimmer port. The result is that the pool cleaner lost connection, therefore it will not move, just stay at the pool bottom still.

If we are at home, we can manually re-connect to pool vacuum hose to the skimmer port.

But if we go to work during the day time, then how to prevent the pool vacuum hose from falling off the skimmer port? Thanks a lot!

Re: Automatic Pool Cleaners

If it is because it isn't tight enough maybe try wrapping some Teflon tape around the fitting to make it tighter. I did that with my leaf basket connection to keep it from falling off during the time the pump was off.

Do you have a leaf trap in the hose? If not, you should either get one or get the skimmer plate so the skimmer baskets catches the leaves before they get to the pump.

How are you currently adjusting the flow rate through the cleaner?
