How much larger should I make the ground for a 16' intex style pool?

I started with 17' but now questioning if this is gonna be enough.

I say think about what you are going to put around the bottom of the pool to keep the rain run off from washing out the sand. How big/side is that? Also you do NOT want to have to use a weed eater right by the pool so how far out do you think you should go for that reason? I would not only do 1". That is not much wiggle room right there.

at 17' that would give me 6" extra all the way around

i went 1ft all the way around my pool. so, i guess that would be 18ft. i then put rubber mulch all the way around my pool.
