How much CYA to add to go from 30 to 40?

Hi, I feel like my CYA is getting a bit low at 30 (it's been gradually going down over the last few months; I use liquid chlorine only and muriatic acid to control ph.)

So I bought some stabilizer. I'm just wondering how much to add to go from 30 to 40 in a 20,000 gallon pebbletec pool? I don't want to over do it. Thanks!

Dude,

28 oz of dry stabilizer (CYA) will add 10 ppm of CYA to a 20K pool..

That is what Pool Math does for you, you should try it..

One other question: When they say 28 oz, is this 28 oz. by weight or by volume? In other words, I guess I have to weigh it and not use a measuring cup?

If you plug the numbers into the browser/web page version of Pool Math, you'll get a dry volume results so you don't have to weigh it. But, it's usually very close so balparking can work.

Thanks for that! I see that it's 27 oz. by weight and 28 oz. by volume, so not much difference...
