Hole in pool

I have just completed grinding out osmosis and black spots and on the very last osmosis bubble I ground too deep and now have a hole in the floor of the pool shell about 2cm x 3cm in the shell. Can I repaid this myself with a kit they sell at the hardware store, then a coating of megapoxy or would it be a specialist job. I have attached photos of:

• Osmosis & black spots ground
• Hole in bottom of pool and a side one that has a black line
• Fibreglass kits
• Megapoxy
• Paint
• Paint primer

Any advice or information would be much appreciated, as the wife is not happy with me, due to the problem.

You can do the fiberglass repair but know it is not an easy job to get it just right. I would do a couple of practice mixes and playing with it to see how it goes. Make sure to wear LONG sleeve shirts when working with it as the fibers can under your skin and itch like mad. Gloves are a must also.

Remember you need to brace a fiberglass pool if you are going to drain it for repair. If not the pool might buckle and colapse.

You'll need some fiberglass matting (not roving) some fiberglass resin and hardener. Get as much gelcoat off as you can and then layer the matting/resin in a couple of increasingly larger patches. Sand the final product smooth and gelcoat it.

I did this for years on fiberglass whitewater kayaks - messy, stinky, itchy, but easy enough to do.

Would you say this kit would be Ok to use. The holt I have is around 2cm X 3 cm
