My parents moved from Long Island (our ancestral lands 
) to Arizona about 5 years ago to be near us. They couldn’t be happier (especially since they wanted to be close to their grandkids). You are making a wise move to leave New York, it will only decimate your retirement savings.

Just post what you find in terms of pool and home, get any info you can on the history of the pool, it’s equipment and construction, and there will be plenty of people to offer you advice and know-how. And, best of all, you’ll be your own “pool boy” and not have to spend over $1000/year on a pricey pool service.
