My inground 18x36 kidney vinyl liner pool is turning 13 years old. I just put a deposit down on a new liner to be installed for April of next year. My issue is that my white aluminum coping has a multitude of small holes in it aside from needing a fresh coat of paint. The pool company said they would sand it down and paint, but how do we fix/fill these holes? My pool has had a salt water generator since new. The pool company doing the liner replacement is not the original builder. The pool company thinks that because I never had an annode rode plumbed in that maybe the salt water attacked the aluminum coping - but it's just a theory. I have no evidence of rust and I constantly check chemical levels. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The holes are relatively small. Most of my research on this problem leads to not having an anode rod plumbed in OR a bonding issue... One link said to use an epoxy putty to fill the holes, sand down, prime and paint with a rust repellent paint.

Here are some pics of my coping
