Help needed on ways to repair and color match flagstone joints/mortar

I have several areas around the pool where I need to fix the cracked joints between the flagstone. After some research, I tested a spot (the long brighter center line in the first photo) with veneer stone mortar, given it’s Type S properties. Turns out, it’s much lighter than the existing mortar around it. Second photo is a close up of existing.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what type of mortar I should use to color match? I’ve seen the coloring agents at HD and Lowes, but I’m fairly certain it would make it too dark.

I was wondering about sand topping mix? thanks.
