Had a pool put in 2017. Wife does most of the care. Lately getting tired of water test results being all over the place from the store. CYA jumps all over. 170 two weeks ago 54 last week 160 this week. We drained about 8" of water and refilled between two weeks ago and last week. Trying to get a better understanding of what the heck is going on and how the CYA can change so much so quickly. In the mean time we spend a lot of money chasing test results that aren't consistent regardless of what we do. Hope we can get a direction that can help us.

Welcome to TFP! CYA doesn’t change like that. Pool store testing is not reliable. I recommend a TF-100 test kit. The link is in my signature. You will be in control of your pool then. With support available here.
