Hello. The problems with our pool builder are continuing, and we've hit another big problem.
We're still not at final inspection, but one issue is that the spa drain isn't pulling water. I've discovered why by going back and looking at build photos.
The spa drain is a single port AVSC heavy debris removal connected to two pumps. The 3" main drain is connected to a pump that returns to the spa jets only and bypasses all equipment. The 1.5" hydrostatic valve port is connected to the main pump along with the skimmers and pool main drain that also runs through the chlorinator and heater.
Attached is a screenshot of the drain before the shotcrete was poured. Unfortunately the pool is already plastered.
The only option I can see is that they'll have to redo the spa drain with the proper dual port drain. I have already contacted Pentair who told me that their drain is not to code like this. Pentair said the baffle to protect hair entrapment does not extend to the hydrostatic port which should not be used for suction (it was a fight even getting the builder to install the baffle required by code).
My concern is that we'll have a bad patch job. Maybe I'm being unreasonable, but I paid for a new pool and I don't expect to start off with a patch job.
They had the proper 2 port white drain on site here and still used a single port gray drain.
Any ideas on the right way to fix this for a new pool?
