My Hayward salt generator is reading 9900 for the salt reading. The only light that is on is the power light and I am not producing chlorine. Any suggestions?

When it first turns on the instant salt will read 9900 and then scroll down to the actual leve in about 10 seconds. Is that what's happening, or is it staying at 9900?
Try turning the switch to off for a few seconds and then back to auto. You should hear the unit turn on. Then scroll through the diagnostics and write down the readings.

Got home this afternoon and tried recommendations with no luck. Decided to pull cover off and kept messing with switch and button. Heard it click on and other lights came on and salt level is now reading correctly!!! Must have been something in the box not making a good connection. So relieved! My salt cell has outlasted all the others that I have seen posted so I thought it had bit the dust. I'm between 6 and 7th year! Yeah me!!!

The Inrush Current Limiter on the circuit board might be going bad. Take a look at it to see if it looks cracked or burned.
