Hi - this is my first winter (in NJ) with a pool. I just winterized and covered my pool but my pump still runs sometimes and says "Freeze Protect". I have the Hayward OmniPump.
I have searched the forum and online and know what function this is but the question I am trying to get answered is - does this still need to be running even though I winterized and covered the pool?
If not, how do I turn it off?

When you winterized the pool did you lower the water below the skimmers and blow out and plug all lines?

You should turn off the circuit breakers for all the pool equipment including your pump and control panels.

In addition to the good advice from ajw22 .. You should run some non toxic anti freeze through that motor assembly, just to be sure there's no water left in the motor & pump.
