I have a 3.5 year old H series hayward pool heater that is leaking. Technician says bad heat exchanger and recommended replacing the entire unit for $3800.00. We very rarely even used it! Warrenty is 3 years so we’re not able to use it. Anybody have any options to suggest? Should we try to contact Hayward and complain? This thing should have lasted much longer!!

If the heat exchanger failed that soon, the pool water chemistry was not managed correctly. Low pH, likely from the use of trichlor, leads to failed heat exchangers and copper in your pool water.
