Greetings!

Long time lurker here, finally found a topic I can't seem to get an answer to. I'm on mobile so this'll be a short one.

99% of pools in our area are Pentair. So we are not nearly as adept at Hayward systems.

We have a new client with a new Hayward system. Omnilogic PL load center fully automated with VSPs, salt cell, actuators etc. Startup is done and we've programmed it all beautifully, with one exception: the heater.

I'm certain we've wired it correctly to the Low Voltage relay (and properly programmed), but I'm less sure of the wiring done by the electrician.

The electrician wired the heater to HVR1.
I've dug through all the settings in omnilogic and I only have either/or for the heater - an LVR or an HVR. We had to create some fun combos on HVR and LVR for the jet pump to have power *and* automation; is that an acceptable format for the heater? Hayward suggested setting up the relay on a 24hr schedule to power a HVR all the time before programming the auxillary pump on the LVR. Should I just do this again for the heater relay?

Meaning now both HVR1 (heater) and HVR3 (spa/jet pump) are relays that remain powered all the time?

I've seen a jumper on that relay before on prior installs. I know 240 and 120 have different setups but have never studied those jumpers long enough to figure out their purpose. Is it to power/bypass the relay? Ignorant question there for sure.

Should I remove the heater from the relay altogether and wire direct to the breaker? That seems like an acceptable solution since the filter pump is also directly wired and the heater won't be left on without filtration by mistake.

I'd like to think I could have figured this out as well as we know the Pentair systems but the I'm not an electrician and we've never had to really mess with the high voltage apart from minor edits. I can't decide if the way Hayward created interplay between the high voltage and low voltage is brilliant or terrible.

Any wisdom is immensely appreciated!

Welcome to TFP :)

There are not many OmniPL installs here and the ones that are were installed by installers like you.. Most home owners like me have no idea how it was all wired... It may be a while before someone with knowledge of an Omni install comes along but I wanted to welcome you..

We have many Pentair installs and always have people asking questions so you may get many questions if you stick around.. :)

I don't know what the odds are that I didn't notice your replay until exactly one year later, but thank you for the welcome!
