Hello, I have recently got an above ground pool and have a Hayward H250 heater. I am looking to close my pool for the season but i am unsure how to get all the water out of the heater. I looked in the instruction manual and it doesn't make sense to me. Does anyone have this heater and could give me some tips?

Find the data plate on the heater with the model number and post a pic of it.

Looks like you have a brass plug screwed into the top and bottom of the outlet instead of a brass plug on the top and a drain screwed into the bottom. I don’t know why.

At risk of sounding like a smart alec, just take the plug out. It looks like you have enough room to get a wrench in there and unscrew it. You can either leave it out, or once you get it out, you can find the right drain valve, likely at your local hardware store and replace it. I would just use the plug that came from the factory, apply the pipe dope of your choosing, and replace each year.

with taking out that bolt will there be water that comes out of it? I have winterized my pool and put my pump and filter away already. How do I get the rest of the water that is at the bottom of the water heater out?

Drain plugs are placed at the lowest point in a device. What makes you think there is water in the bottom of the water heater? You can blow air though the heater coil to blow out any water. But it sh flow naturally out the drain hole.

When the water runs through your heater it is typically through a bundle of tubes at or near the top of this heater. The water comes in, flows across the heater, turns around right where the plug is. Then passes back through the heater and exits. This water heater isn't like your fresh water heater where the water flows throughout the heater from top to bottom.

You're done just by the mere fact the inlet and outlet are open. Once it's opened and visually you see no water on the bottom call it done.
