Glacier Chiller plumbing question

I’m trying to figure out if I should leave my Glacier Chiller running while I’m out of town. My wife won’t know what to do if their is a problem. My concern is one of the automated valves. I’m wondering what happens if the automated valve dies and doesn’t flip to 12:00. See pic 2. When chiller is not running its at 9:00. What would happen? I don’t even understand why it flips in first place. I won’t see anything different in my Easy Touch. What I don’t want to happen is the valve not to flip and the Chiller overflows CONSTANTLY if that could happen

Also as a side question I don’t understand the automated valve after the SWG(pic 1). When the chiller is turned on it flips to 2:00 when the chiller is off it’s at 9:00. Why???

I love being shown unlabeled pipes going into the ground and playing guess what it does?

Pic 2 is a 2 way diverter? So at 9 o'clock water is off tot he right hand pipe and at 12 o'clock water flows from the left hand pipe to the right hand pipe? My guess would be it turns water flow to the chiller on and off.

Pic1 is cutoff on the bottom and I can't see the SWG or the valve.
