Freeze Protection question

Hi guys, have a question. I have my pool pump set to run 24 hours right now because of temps here in the Northeast. It's only running at 1500 rpm so as to not use much energy. My question is, many of those 24 hours the freeze protect is taking over and running at 3450 rpms. Do I need the Freeze protect on at all if I'm running my pump 24 hours? Does it matter what rpm
