Freeze Protection on Pentair

I live in an area that rarely gets freezing temps but the freeze protection kicked on this morning on my Pentair. My spa was drained and was sucking into the pool. I restarted everything now that it was warmed back up and its normal but I'm wondering what the correct mechanism should be for freeze protection in Pentair pools. Surely its not to suck the water from the spa back into the pool?

If you have an automation system you need to be sure you have all of the systems you want freeze protected checked ON for Freeze Protection in the ET.

Your spa and pool mode should switch back and forth every thirty minutes if both are checked for FP in the ET.

Draining the spa means your suction was from the spa only and return was to the pool. Check that your actuators for your valves are properly set.
