Flashing Sonoff with Tasmota

I’m reaching out to those who have done this update.
Several recommendations to use the Tasmota firmware with the Sonoff RFR2. From my reading, I will need to modify the unit with jumpers?

Did some more digging and found crackers1899 and Rancho Cost-a-lotta have done quite a bit with these. Looking like flashing isn’t a show stopper, the unit should work as delivered.
I believe crackers1899 came up with a shortcut for flashing, still digging.

1. Is the appeal of the Sonoffs to have an AC relay that can be controlled over Wifi?

2. How much are you paying for these? $15 for one switch (relay)?
