Five years in, time to figure this out!

Hi all. Pool owner for a little over five years now, but new to the site. We replastered our pool three years ago and converted to salt at the same time. Happy with that decision in that I don't miss constantly buying chlorine, but I do battle keeping the salt cell clean. We've got pretty hard water here and the pH level in the pool is always drifting up. I need to constantly remind myself to clean the salt cell and maintain the pH level in the pool!

Trying hard to stay on top of things and I'm hopeful this site will help. We don't have a "pool guy" (well there's me, the same guy who's the "gardener" :) ). Looking forward to learning how to keep things in order without spending a fortune!

Welcome to the forum!
Head on over to the Just Getting Started forum and post up your pool water chemistry, test kit you use, etc. Proper monitoring and maintenance of your pool water chemistry should eliminate nearly any need to clean your SWCG of scale.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.
