Hello!
This will be our 4th summer with our pool. We have always followed the step by step instructions of our pool store (which we visited regularly) but after spending tons of money last year we gave up and didn’t swim once last summer. This year we have decided to really take the time to learn how to manage our pool and have just done our first test using the TF-100 kit.
The results are
Chlorine 1?
PH 7.8
FC 3.5
CC 2
TC 5.5
CH 125
TA 50
CYA 20? (We emptied the entire bottle and could still see the dot clearly)

After the trouble we had last summer we didn’t cover the pool and it was a disaster. We couldn’t see what all was in the bottom so we just decided to drain most of it, used a pond vac to suck the muck out of the bottom, and refilled it with clean water just today. It’s a bit cloudy but not green.

I used the pool math app and entered our test numbers but wasn’t clear on the order and timing of the additions we need to make. Any guidance would be much appreciated!

Welcome to the forum!
You need to SLAM Process.
Add liquid chlorine to 10 ppm. Circulate the pool for 15 minutes. Test FC and CC. If FC is below 5 ppm, post here before doing the following.
Add 20 ppm of CYA. Does your pool have a skimmer? Use the sock method.
Once you start to dissolve the CYA, raise the FC to 12 ppm. Maintain that FC every couple hours by adding liquid chlorine.
Keep the pump on and brush often.

I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry and consider reviewing the entire Pool School eBook.
