First OCLT

Hello All,

My K2006 test kit finally came in (and you're right, Marty, the DPD powder amount is a joke.

So I was able to do my first OCLT after refilling. Started with 10 last night and this morning I had 9.2 (0.2ppm testing). Is that good?

My other numbers are: (although I don't know if they mean anything with a 9.2 FC)

ph 7.2
TA 130
CH 250
CYA 35

Sounds good. Is the water clear? What CC did you get this morning.

Maintain your FC based on a CYA of 40 (round up) using [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]

Also: how far do I need to let it go down to let the kids back in the pool?

Let what go down??

A pool is safe to swim in if the FC is above minimum and below SLAM level based on your CYA and you can see the bottom of the deep end.

Sorry, I guess it didn't take my edit.
I meant the FC. Now I know 5-7 is ideal for 40CYA (just looked it up).
So that means 9.2 is def safe to swim then.
I will order more reagents

How often do you test and when you do, do you test for FC CC and ph only or always the whole spectrum?

For reference, I swam with my 2 year old with a FC at 13ppm and CYA at 60. No adverse affects whatsoever.

I am probably getting slammed by this but.......

$ 10 ++ for 10 grams of R-0870?? (the manufacturer's cost of this is probably $10 for a 40lbs pail).

And there is no way that you get 100 tests out of that tiny little container using two scoops every time.
But that's just me (I have spent 100s of dollars before on leslie's:grrrr:

One scoop of R-0870 powder is all that is needed for maintenance level FC testing.
