Dumb question, can I somehow change my motor to a 2 speed

This could be a dumb question but I have a 1HP pentair pump that is connected to my pentair 75 Sq Ft cartridge filter. The pump is complete overkill at 1HP for a 5,500 gallon pool.

Is there a way to somehow change the motor to a 2 speed. Or do I have to buy a brand new pentair 2 speed pump if I want to save on electricity.

I looked at INYO pools and it says this motor would work? But I have no idea, I'm confused

If you have a 1HP pump, you would also have to change the impeller to use a 3/4 HP motor. Perhaps this is the motor you are looking for?

Please do proper diligence -- I'm not 100% sure that's the correct frame, etc for your pump.

Oh ok thanks. A brand new 2 speed entire pentair pump is about $250 or so. Maybe I would just buy that instead since I'm not too handy Thank you

With a new pump you'll need to connect it to your existing plumbing, not always easy.
