Hi All,
What is the impact of Dry Acid on FC and pH? Just fired up pool yesterday, pH is far >8.0, would like to get it down to 7.7. FC wasn't all that great at 4.4 so added some chlorine which is likely only going to drive the pH up even more. TA and CYA both at 50, would like TA higher.
Thanks,
Lyman

You can generally find answers to how chemicals may or may not effect each other using the PoolMath APP's Effects of Adding Chemicals. Dry acid itself should have no impact on the FC. Conversely however, an excessively high FC (10 or more) can can a temporary increase in pH. If the FC is below 10, don't worry about its effects on pH. We generally discourage the use of Dry Acid because of byproducts (sulfates) that can build-up over time and potentially cause complications. Muriatic acid is our favorite tool of choice to lower pH or TA.

Thanks and you're correct across the board...should have gone with Muriatic Acid and should have checked Pool Math's "Effects of Adding Chemicals" which I've used many times including today. My real bad on that one.
Your other input is also very valuable, many thanks!
Best,
Lyman
