CYA Question

Does CYA stratify in the pool?
Is CYA of lower density than water and stays on the water surface?
The reason I ask is because it seems like I lose quite a bit of CYA after the pool overflows during an average rain event.
My perception is that to lose so much CYA is because it accumulates at the top.
I try to keep my water level at least 1 inch below the overflow point but not always successful in doing that.

No. CYA is pretty evenly dispersed.

Be sure you have run the pump and mixed the pool water well before testing.
