Whjat would it cost you to drain 35% of that 20K pool? It might only be $30 bucks or so and you should drain it if that's the case.
If you can't stand the water loss, you will have to manage your chlorine at a higher rate and always risk a chance of an algae bloom which will cost a ton of money if you have to SLAM with a CYA of 100+.
Check your water rate......I'll bet you can drain it and have peace of mind.
